GENERATION II CONTROLS
Introduced in February 2002, Gen ll Controls have been very enthusiastically
received and replace the previous standard control system. Like our trigger
controls, this system is very smooth, quiet, and comfortable to operate. Gen
II controls use a more traditional approach to lever placement. Facial Animations are
operated by brass levers which ride in precision slots machined into
the control post. Stainless steel rods are used within the
post and connect to the mechanisms further up inside the head. To
control the figures eyes, for example, the bottom middle lever (see
photo right) would be moved from side to side, when released
the eyes return to center position automatically! All other
mechanical effects are activated by pulling down (or in some cases pushing
up*) on the control levers.
Each mechanism is carefully tensioned for proper feel
and responsiveness and then padded to eliminate unwanted noise.
*Wide-Eyed Option and Lowering Eyebrow Effects are
controlled by pushing the levers upwards. Pulling the levers down
will have opposite effects respectively. The lever that pushes
up to open the eyelids wide will also close the lids if pulled down.
Likewise, the lever pushed up to lower the eyebrows will also raise them
if pulled down. Levers are sprung to return the facial features to
their neutral "set" position when released.
**Wide-Eyed Option can only be ordered in addition to Closing
Eyelids. Lowering Eyebrows can only be ordered in addition to Raising
Eyebrows.
TRIGGER CONTROL SYSTEM
This exclusive and patented system is available on all Selberg figures
and there is nothing like it anywhere! It features direct-link
triggers that rest comfortably beneath your fingertips and is especially
useful for manipulating several animations simultaneously. The
system has been likened by many to playing a musical instrument.
Each trigger is linked to advanced, hand built and fabricated precision
mechanisms for smooth, quiet operation. No strings whatsoever are used.
There is no reach to control any of the facial animations, because each
trigger rests naturally where your fingers fall as you grasp the control
post.
Mouth action for both our Gen ll and Trigger Systems is controlled
with the thumb. Although this is the recommended method preferred
by most, the mouth can also be built for index finger control with
the Gen ll System if requested. Please inquire for more details. |
